A San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance representative said, "Elephants can feel sound through their feet."

Details of the Earthquake
On Tuesday, April 14, 2025, a 5.2 earthquake struck the area of Julian, centered just east of San Diego, California, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed.
The earthquake struck at approximately 10:10 AM at a depth of roughly 8.9 miles, according to seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones, who added it was most likely associated with the Elsinore Fault, which runs parallel to the San Andreas Fault. The earthquake was felt as far away as Tijuana, Mexico, and Los Angeles County, California.
The USGS reported More than seven aftershocks that had a magnitude of 2.5 or greater.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department, there was no report of injuries. However, a small rockslide occurred on SR-76 near Lake Henshaw, blocking the roadway.
